Bear with Barrel

This terracotta figure of a sitting bear holding a barrel tub is painted with tin glaze.  In typical Russian style, the bear is dressed in traditional Russian peasant clothing and has a happy, if a little vacant, expression on his face.  Bears from Russia tend to be looked upon as slow and lumbering, with a fairly simple minded personality.
