These London Gold Traditional Cheeky Bears are all handmade in England and is a unique design only made by Merrythought. Celebrating 80 years in 2010, Merrythought is one of our oldest UK manufacturers of teddy bears. The Cheeky Bear was first shown at a Trade Show in the late 1950's and as she passed by, a then young Queen Elizabeth II was heard to remark that the bear had a very cheeky face, and so the name stuck and has been a firm favourite of children since.
Built to last, each Cheeky Bear has movable arms, legs and head with locked joints and eyes and a hand-stitched nose. All Cheeky Bears have a small tinkley bell in each large ear and Merrythought use the finest close weave golden mohair which is hard wearing and surface washable.
The Merrythought Traditional Cheeky Bear is semi-hard packed for long life, but is still softer than many other manufactured traditional mohair teddy bears. Available in the following sizes: 25cm/10", and 30cm/12" .
